Raquel Maulwurf is a Dutch artist, born in Spain. She works mainly with charcoal, combined with pastels on paper. Her drawings contain a lot of drama and show landscapes, towns and areas affected by war, fire, pollution and destruction.
Maulwurf manages to grasp the conscious and unconscious urge of destruction by humans, with a certain beauty. The tension between that beauty and the harsh reality, brings the viewer in a very confrontational position. The work therefore leaves no one untouched.
The drawings of Maulwurf are often monumental, and leave a lasting impression to many people.
