Riki Mijlings is a visual artist coming from Nijmegen. She studied at the Royal Academy of Art and Design in den Bosch. She currently lives and works in Amsterdam and Amoreias Gare (Portugal).
Her visual language is clear Riki Mijlings: she loves to build. She is fascinated by the phenomenon of space. Rather, by conquering the space, physicaly, philosophicaly or purely functionaly significance. She limited herself to these vital, often geometric shapes.
Her sculptures arise systematically through a design process guided by intuition. In addition, however, the compositions apply to mathematical laws, such as the golden ratio. This approach results in sets of geometric sculptures, reinterpreting a logical succession. One form calls the other on.
