Johan Pas has a doctorate in art history. He works for the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
His research focuses on the postwar neo-avant-garde in Belgium in an international context. More specifically, it examines the role of printed publications (art books, magazines, catalogs) in the radical art practices of the 60s and 70s. Pas teaches modern and contemporary art and guides students in their master theses and doctoral degrees.
Along with Thomas Crombez he represents Archivolt, a research platform for archives and avant-garde. He is editor of Track Report, the cahier for artistic research of the Royal Academy. He is a curator, lecturer and author of several monographs on contemporary art.
