Visit to the artist's studio: Valery Konevin

Stijn Coppejans and Delphine Boone from Kunstzolder.be invited their contacts to the studio of Valery Konevin in Ghent for a unique tour with cava&tapas. The public enjoyed a visit to the artist's studio on the highest level of the old secundary technical school in the Lindelei.

Valery Konevin (°1952, Leningrad)

Valery Konevin was born in 1952 St. Petersburg. After he got his degree as aeronautical engineer, he reoriented to painting and graphic art and became a student at the Muchin Institute in his hometown.

With the Perestroika he got the possibility to organise exhibitions of his non-conformist work in the cities of St.Petersburg, Sverdlovsk and Moscow. Leaving Russia, he relocated in Israel and became a member of the society of painters and sculptors of Israel. His oil paintings and drawings became rapidly noticed as well in Israel as abroad. A series of exhibitions followed, in Israel, Germany, England, Panama, United States,... Since then, some of his oeuvre has become a part of collections in musea ( such as the Metropolitan Museum in New-York and the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg) as well as the property of well-known private collections . His creativity to the abstract; it forwards a delicate lining in the graphic as well as stirring features, unveiling a fascinating coloration on the canvass. He got an award for his photo's at the ''Nicon International Photocontest'' in 1998 in Japan.
