In the fifties, under the influence of Piccasso, sculptor Vic Gentils. Gentils was cofounder of the group Hessenhuis G 58. In the sixties he created revolutionary assemblies whereupon he in 1970, returned to the human body as theme of his work.
Gentils is best known for his three dimentional sculptures and objects made of mutilated parts of furniture, piano's and frames that were taken from their context. Vic Gentils is one of the most important representatives of the Belgian “Nouveau Réalisme”.
