From:
17-05-2019
Until:
15-09-2019

The sixth edition of ARTZUID will take place from May 17 to September 15 2019. The Amsterdam Sculpture Biennial presents an outdoor exhibition with more than sixty figurative sculptures and spatial installations.

ARTZUID 2019 will feature work by internationally renowned artists, including Jan Fabre, Antony Gormley, Gloria Friedmann, Takashi Murakami, Yubi Kirindongo, Nancy Rubins, Elsa Tomkowiak, Franz West, Isa Genzken and Joep van Lieshout. Eja Siepman van den Berg will also be represented with three sculptures at the expo.

Existing artworks in the neighborhood are involved in the exhibition in a special way, such as The Thinker by Auguste Rodin, works by Hildo Krop and Sandro Chia. New work is also being made for ARTZUID, such as by Gabriel Lester, Sachi Miyachi and Ivan Cremer.

The heart of the exhibition lies in Berlage’s monumental Plan Zuid with its leafy Apollolaan and Minervalaan. The exhibition shows theatrical arrangements of modern and contemporary figurative art and installations where the audience experiences something together. New is a route through squares with multidisciplinary artworks that connect with the history, culture and architecture of the neighbourhood. In addition, solo presentations by internationally renowned artists mark the 2.5 km long route from Museumplein to the Zuidas. ARTZUID comprises an extensive side programme, including artist talks, debates, art walks and art happenings. The exhibition is free of charge 24/7. Route information and a catalogue are available during the ARTZUID exhibition at the Information Pavilion on the Minervalaan 1.
