Alexandra Phillips: artist in residence
The Amerikaanse artist Alexandra Phillips will live and work in Antwerp for three months, starting on april 1st. She was invited by Kunstzolder.be and Galerie Schoots + Van Duyse.
Alexandra Phillips reexamines disregarded every day objects. She’s able to repurpose old toys, discarded signs, and materials that are specific to her surroundings to give them a sense of materiality and to create a platform to examine the excesses in every day.
During her stay, Phillips will get a temporary studio at Plein Publiek. After a short period, her first Antwerp exhibition will take place over there. Later, she will present an installation at the Groen Kwartier, during het Art Antwerp weekend. The result of her period of residence will be shown in the expo Until The Last Drop during the summer months at Galerie Schoots + Van Duyse.
