Hilde Van Sumere
City of birth:
Hilde Van Sumere is a Belgian sculptor. She studied at the Academy of Brussels from 1958 to 1964 and was a pupil of the geometric abstract sculptor Jacques Moeschal.
Her sculptures are always abstract, based on geometric abstraction. However, the pure geometry is often broken by subtle sensitivity in the composition. She also works a lot with light and her work consistently emanates a monumentality.
Her work is part of many public collections at home and abroad. In our country there is a large work in the Middelheim sculpture park and also in various public parks.
